                         IT’S BIRTHDAY TIME

For all the ‘July’ birthdays, here is the BEATLES birthday rendition for us.

Plus a special Blue Mountain birthday “Celebration” for me and YOU.

My family did not celebrate birthdays when we grew up.

Interestingly, this is a recent occurrence in North America.

Read about the strange history of birthday celebrations.

MARINERS V BLUE JAYS

KIDS CAMP COOKIE WORKSHOP

This year’s Coastal Church Kids’ Camp was held at the Pacific Academy.

We served two groups of 30+ kids; each child received 2 cookies each.

I picked a broken butterfly cookie and named her Ms July before I ate it.

Cookie coloring kits are available at Costco stores or there are online options such as BySweetness.com.

CATCH UP WITH JESUS

Thank you Chris Veale for finding the perfect Sunday t-shirt for Steve:

Catch Up with Jesus.

Lettuce praise and relish him

‘Cuz He loves me from my head to-ma-toes.

  I CAME, I SAW, I FORGOT

LOL (laughing out loud) when I read this for the first time because it’s happened to me.

We all need a little grace and humor in those moments of forgetfulness.

There are three stages for memory: encoding, storage, and retrieval.

Absentmindedness is characterized by low attention level and distractedness.

Sleep and taking naps does improve learning and memory.

However, a word of caution, too little sleep or too much sleep affects memory.

Here are some tips for dealing with forgetfulness: learn a new skill, stay active, spend time with family and friends, volunteer, and limit alcohol consumption.

KIMO’S HAWAIIAN RULES

Love this Kimo’s t-shirt worn by Ron Leenstra to church:

Never judge a day by the weather.

The best things in life aren’t things.

Tell the truth – there’s less to remember.

Speak softly and wear a loud shirt.

Goals are deceptive – the unaimed arrow never misses.

He who dies with the most toys – still dies.

Age is relative – when you’re over the hill, you pick up speed.

There are 2 ways to be rich – make more or desire less.

Beauty is internal – looks mean nothing.

No rain – no rainbows.

WHY INVEST IN REAL ESTATE?

Real Estate Leverage

Leverage is the use of various financial instruments or borrowed capital (e.g., debt) to increase an investment’s potential return. A 20% down payment on a mortgage, for example, gets you 100% of the house you want to buy—that’s leverage. Because real estate is a tangible asset and one that can serve as collateral, financing is readily available.
