Here’s Teresa’s children Jayden and Tanessa in Dwayne Johnson’s The Tooth Fairy.

Legitimate talent agencies do not charge you for their services.

These agencies take a 15% commission as their fee.

However, you do need a decent headshot that they can submit to casting directors.

Headshot quality ranges from Do-It-Yourself free that is perfectly fine for extra and commercial work, up to $300 to $500 for high end professional photographs (not necessary when you are first starting out).

My friend Teresa Holoman has been in the Hollywood North industry for 29 years and started her own St. Denis Talent Agency in 2016.

Although she specializes in children and ethnic talent, she is open to submissions from infants to senior citizens.

Her primary focus is commercials and extra work.

Starting wage is $17.09 per hour less the 15% standard commission rate.

Feel free to submit your headshot to teresa@StDenisTalent.com.

Requirements are flexibility and showing up.

My mother was invited by Teresa Holoman of St. Denis Talent Agency to be an extra in a romantic-comedy Christmas movie set to air this December.

Although the weather was a balmy 21C (that’s 70F), the Abbotsford neighborhood was transformed into a wintery village with snow-making machines.

They used bubbles to act as snow if you look closely at my mother’s boots.

There are 30 Hallmark style Christmas movies on Netflix to tide you over until this December release.

The slogan “Hurry up and wait” is an undeniable truth in the movie industry because there are so many interchangeable parts coming together at the same time.

I studied for 8 years to be an actor with most of my resume in commercials, independent films, and theatre; and patience is paramount.

So, come to set prepared to wait and bring a book to read, a small craft project such as knitting or crocheting, a seat cushion, personal comforts.

Teresa enrolled all of her 6 children as actors as a way to make some extra cash on the side.

Two of her children landed a lucrative spot in a national commercial paving the way for their first real estate investment.

Everything you need to know about film set etiquette.

Did you know that Tom Cruise arranged for the actors to undergo 3 months of Top Gun training in order to delve deeper into the fighter pilot experience for the movie?

They worked with the Navy and the Top Gun school to fly in the F18s.

Tom designed a graduated aviation training for the actors starting out in a single engine plane to build up their spatial awareness, graduating to the L39 jet, and ultimately to the F18 Super Hornet.

They actually launched off an aircraft carrier… how cool is that.

And for extra coolness, the actors had to film themselves in the cockpit.

In my experience, the movie is better the second time than in the theatre and our friends agree.

For some added humor, you can watch Tom Cruise have fun with Late Late Show host James Corden.

Headshots should match your everyday normal.

Casting directors are not looking for the glam shot, unless you actually do that every day, then it’s just another day for you.

They want a neutral template that they can then add Make-up and Wardrobe to.

Go to auditions in the same color scheme as your headshot so you match.

Here are 5 tips on improving your on-camera auditions.

The format for an actor’s resume is different than your standard employment version.

Talent agencies and casting agents expect a certain format and if it does not match their expectations, your resume is tossed.

Resumes are 1-page only on standard letter-sized paper in black and white type.

Your resume is stapled to your headshot so the sizes should match.

Capital Gains

How would you like an investment where not only can you make a great return on your capital, but you also pay less tax on your profits? That’s what happens with real estate. When it comes to the capital gains you make on your properties, you are only taxed on ½ of the gain. You keep the first half of the profits. The government taxes the other half. Compare that to interest you generate in a savings account… firstly it’s miniscule, and secondly you are taxed on all of the interest that you earn.

Another big PLUS on the side of real estate as an investment.
