JULY NEWS FOR 20 YEARS

Steve reminded me that I’ve been writing July News for 20 years.

He is the one who came up with the idea to write a digital monthly update as a way to stay connected with the people I meet and know after he saw me reading Harvey Mackay’s book Dig Your Well Before You’re Thirsty.

Back then, the newsletter was sent out manually using cut-paste-send for up to 8 hours in a single sitting.

If I started at 7:00 pm, I would be finishing up by 3:00 am.

I am so grateful for Robert Klein who was inspired to create this HippoContact newsletter platform after reading my first book Your Million Dollar Network.

How is it possible to write over 240 issues? Focus on writing 1 newsletter, do it every month.

If you’re spending more than an hour a week writing emails and posting on social media, then you can write a newsletter, too.

THE ENTREPRENEUR’S SECRET WEAPON: SYSTEMS

 

I’ve known Beverlee Rasmussen since 2004 when she was the Program Advisor for E-Myth Worldwide. 

She interviewed 3,300 people, signed up 300, and experienced 100% dropout after 6 months.

She realized that the founder did not know how to systemize anything including his own business, so she vowed to fix it.

She spent 13 years getting her accreditation and two books to provide the road map to get organized and profitable: Small Business Big Profits and the Small Business Field Guide.

PERSONALITY THEORY

Technically, I finished my BA LDRS in February, but I am 3 elective credits (1 course) away from degree completion, and 9 credits (3 courses) remain for the Certificate in Applied Psychology

PSYC-301 Theories of Personality introduces the founders of personality theory starting with Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, Alfred Adler, Karen Horney, Erik Erikson, Gordon Allport, to the first personality assessment based on Raymond Cattell’s predictive behavior: the 16PF.

Hans Eysenck’s personality assessment measures extraversion/introversion.

Robert McCrae & Paul Costa developed the Big 5 Personality Test and is the most widely used assessment in academic psychology.

Michael Ashton & Kibeom Lee developed the HEXACO 6-Factor Model test

Delroy Paulhus & Kevin Williams authored the Dark Triad to measure narcissism, Machiavallianism, and psychopathy.

COSTCO BUSINESS TRIVIA

Steve loves Costco Wholesale so much that he gets withdrawal symptoms if he doesn’t shop there for a while, and this is why we visit Costco wherever we travel.

He got curious  about the price tags while wandering through the aisles, so he asked an associate to explain.

There is purpose on how they convey information to both customers and staff besides the obvious retail price.

Did you know that tags ending in .97 cents means the price was reduced?

Did you know that a * star on the right side of the price means that product is never coming back?

This is a brilliant business system that Costco implemented to streamline operations, keeps everyone in the loop, and reduces the need for staff meetings, without creating extra work since someone is putting up price tags anyway.

DREAM BUILDER COACHING FOR FREE
